WD Elements Portable, 1.5 GB, USB 3.0 fails during SeaTools Short Generic Test

Hi all!

Last week I’ve bought a WD Elements Portable, 1.5 GB, USB 3.0 and as every new harddisk, I’ve checked it with SeaTools. The problem is, that the Short Generic Test failed during the “inner scan”.

Having this in mind, I’ve downloaded the Data Lifeguard Diagnostic Tool from WD, where the harddisk passed both, the short and the long test. Moreover, I’ve returned the test with a WD My Passport Portable disk but here no problems occured at all, even during the SeaTools check.

Now, I am a bit confused and not sure what to do. I’ve also repeated the test with another pc but the issue remains the same.

Could someone confirm or reject this observation?

Best regards!

Christian

Hi,

Is there any extended test that you can run with the Seatool?

Since that is a third party tool that I haven’t use, I wont be able to let you know how much you can trust that.
