I purchased WD Elements WDBUZG0010BBK-03 (10A8) portable hard drive and connected to my Dell laptop Latitude 3540 but DELL Backup and Recovery did not recognize it and still does not, although the internal hard drive does recognize it and files can be copied to and read from it. Though this seems to be a problem with DELL, I wonder if anyone has experienced the same or similar problem? I would appreciate any suggestions
If the drive is seen on the computer and you are able to copy files to it them that means there is nothing wrong with it.
It is possible the computer is not providing enough power to the USB port when it is on recovery mode.
Press the < Down Arrow > on the keyboard to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press < Enter >. Specify the language settings that you want, and then click Next. Log in as a user who has administrative credentials, and then click OK.
