WD Elements bad sectors

The day before yesterday, my Elements stop working. It doesn’t show up when I insert the USB, but it does when I go to the management. I downloaded the LifeGuard, and these are the results. Is there a way I can fix this? If not the files, can I at least save the drive?

EDIT: somebody took the screenshot down but didn’t help me at all, so the post doesn’t really make sense now. ahah So, what the results said was: 08- Unable to repair bad sectors, after the extended test.

Hi there,

If the drive has irreparable bad sectors, this is not a good sign, try to use a different USB cable see if this helps, also trying perhaps a data recovery software on the unit, lets see if another user can share some information or tips on this matter.

Hello Ronnie,

Recently I have read a blog on bad sectors fixes; I would suggest you to go through it Hard Drive Fixes: What is the Bad Sector in Hard Drive & How to Fix It? and try the fixes. Hope it helps you. Thanks.

The results from LifeGuard indicating “08- Unable to repair bad sectors” after the extended test suggest that your drive may have developed some serious issues. While recovering the files can be difficult, there are methods you can try to at least salvage the drive. You might want to look into resources on how to fix bad sectors on external hard drive, which provide guidance on using tools and commands to potentially restore some functionality https://www.hаndyrecovery.com/fix-bad-sectors-on-external-hard-drive/.
