Since yesterday, my 4TB Elements external HDD has stopped working.
I no longer have access to it. The drive is visible in Device Manager but not in Disk Management.
The drive is 4 years old and I want to keep the data on it because I haven’t made a backup of it.
I already tried a different cable, but it didn’t work.
The disc is spinning smoothly and I hear no rattling. My suspicion is a technical issue.
Can anyone help me further?

sounds like the disk drive has become faulty. sorry to bear bad news.
wd elements are unreliable in my experience and even attempting to fix them is hard due to so many logic board revisions

If the drive shows up with the correct capacity on another PC, you could try Stellar Data Recovery and scan it without formatting or initializing anything. If it can’t detect the drive either, stop there since that usually points to a hardware or USB controller issue that software can’t fix.
