WD Easystore 8TB idle issues

I just bought my drive from Best Buy. I have some video files on it (about 3 TB worth). After the drive has sit idle for awhile with computer on (no sleep mode), the drive either looses connection or some the video files don’t show up in the windows explorer directory. The only way to get them back is to restart the computer or disconnect and reconnect the drive. I have it directly connected to my Gigabyte motherboard USB3 port. I also got the latest update from Gigabyte for USB3 host controller (Via Chipset). I also tried connected to USB 2.0 port and it seems to do the same thing. Have anyone else had this issue.

Hi 4fclub,

You may try to check drive after updating the firmware using WD Universal Firmware Updater.

I found a solution to the problem. First i was mistaken in my earlier post, USB 2.0 port did work and there was no issues there. I ordered a PCI-e USB 3.0 Card with the Renesas chipset and everything work great. Don’t know why it had problems with my onboard via usb 3.0 chipset.
