The drive services process eats way to many resources and does not stop when process is halted. This is unacceptable…is it a requirement…can it be halted temporarily…can it be removed.
The drive can be operated without the WD software installed.
With WD Discovery, you’ll lose some features, such as turning the LED on the drive on/off and when the drive should go into standby. Other features such as S.M.A.R.T checks, sector scans and formatting can be accomplished with other software.
Other backup software can be used instead of WD Backup.
For me, I want to say that WD SmartWare was creating a delay while accessing USB mass storage devices. Once I removed it, the delay went away.
