WD drive - not working with OS ElCapitan?

Hi! I just bought a 1TB drive today. Came home, and tried to get it going using this guide:

How to Partition and Format a WD Drive on Windows and macOS

When I hit apply apply I get an error saying that there isn’t enough space to do it. I have 11 GB free. Anyone know what to do?

I have an Macbook Air and OS ElCapitan.

Try too use drive erase see if by doing this you can reformat the drive, you will do a quick erase and this will partition the drive as well.
