WD Cloud - Communicating to the internet while not in use?

I recently went on vacation and discovered on my return there was internet traffic on my Rogers account while i was away. I was roaming so i didn’t use my cloud. There were fairly consistantly 20 MB daily download use +/- 3 MB and very consistently transmission of 3 MB dialy from my network out to the internet.

I have a question. What data is being transmitted by the WD Cloud out to the internet to generate this traffic. DHCP info and Keep Alive traffic would be much smaller. Does anyone know what is being transmitted and received while “inactive”?

Obviously they’re checking on what’s on your drive. Hence wake-ups and a MUST to have it connected to the internet.
