WD Cav 750 Not Seen In Win7 Pro 64bit?

Thank you…

WD 750 Cav was working in Win XP SP3 and doing fine. Was not part of a raid. New system now, new mobo, etc… Win7 Pro 64 bit - have Cav blk new HD (1 TB) that is fine and has OS installed but on boot the 750 ‘shows’ as ‘new hardware’ and the ‘reboot to use’ windows comes up but THE DRIVE never shows in Drive Manager or Explorer. DOES show in BIOS …

Ran Diag on it from Dos boot… error  0141 showed but cannot find that error on WD site. Would like to get data off this before writing zeroes… ANY thoughts or help greatly appreciated! Thank you

This is caused by the intel chipset overheating. Your drive is usually ok, but the chip controlling the drive is too hot to function properly. Try blowing your CPU fan out with compressed air, then start using a laptop cooler to keep it cool and this problem should go away.

Did you by chance have that drive connected to the system when you installed windows on the caviar black?  If so, check disk management and see what color the bar is in there.  if it shows up and it’s black you blew the partition out when you formatted the system drive.  If I’m not blowing smoke on this, you will have to look for a partition recovery program to maybe get your data.
