WD Book Essential - Won't work

Hi.

I have a 3 WB Book Essential, I’ve had it for about 3 weeks and now it’s just blinking at me. I googled and everywhere I could find they said that it couldn’t  be helped, but, I really, really, REALLY need the files on the drive, is there a way to get them.

  2. if it will work on another computer
  3. if the drive shows on disk management
  4. if the drive will work after a firmware update
