WD Blue Book Doesn't connect Model WD5000H1U-00

I have this model and the blue light will come on and you can hear the disc spinning and stopping. It’s a continuous thing and never connects at all. I took it to Best Buy and they couldn’t get it to connect either. Said they needed to send it off and it would cost me around $1000-2500 to get my data off of it! I really need to get all the data off of this drive as it includes important work files AND about 20,000 pics of my kids. Any help from this group?
