WD Black2 Mac Installation - can't update firmware

I have a Black2 drive that I’m trying to install in my MacBook. When I try to OPTION boot with the flash drive and the Black2, the screen simply shows white, and does not give me an option of booting to anything. If I put my old HDD back in, it does give me the option of booting to whichever drive. I’m using Yosemite 10.10.

I called in and was supposed to get a call back between 1-6pm… last Thursday.
