WD Black2 as second hard drive in Win10

Here’s my situation; I’m hoping to find out beforehand if this will work:

–I currently have a Black2 as the only drive on a laptop running Win7
–I just bought a new laptop that will have an SSD in it and Win10 Pro preinstalled
–The new laptop has a bay for a second hard drive
–I would like to just take the Black2 out of my old computer and put it in the new one as storage, no longer as the boot drive.

Is there anything I need to do to get this to work? Install the WD drivers/software on the new SSD, maybe? Will it be a problem trying to do this with Win10 even if I’m not using it as the boot drive?

Thanks!

Hello,

yes you can use it as a secondary drive and you might need to install the software to enable the HDD part of the unit. I also recommend you take a look at the drive compatibility list.
