WD Black FZEX Efficient dual processing

Hi,

I have 3 questions regarding the Black.

  1. My company needs 8-10 WD black hard drives, but i found that there is 2 models of the WD black.: FZEX and FAEX. But I can’t find any documentation on the net to compare both specs.

  2. Regarding “Efficient dual processing”. Is this feature also available with WD Black 1TB hard drive? Or just 6TB hard drive?

  3. If i buy the hard drive from oversea, the hard drive still under warranty if i bring to local WD shop in my country?

Thanks

Welcome to the Community.

  1. The FZEX line is newer than the FAEX line, and as such it features better specs overall.

Specifications for the FZEX line can be found in the following link:

Specifications for the FAEX line are available here:

2) Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

  1. While WD offers world-wide warranty and replacements, replacements are mostly handled by specific warehouses with direct shipping instead of stores. As such, importing a hard drive from a different region may result in a warehouse location conflict and you may need to contact WD support to address it. As such, although you can buy your hard drives overseas, it is not recommended.

Hello Trancer,

Thanks a lot for your explanantion.

Greetings,

I just joined the forum. I have a WD Black FZEX 1TB.

3 issues:

1)It only formatted to 953,865 MB. I let Windows 8.1 format it when I did the install of Win 8.1 on the WD black.

  1. I show Max UDMA support as 6, Current active UDMA is 5  - how do I change active to UDMA 6?

  2. Since I have the FZEX, I should have the dual core processor, is there anything I need to do to configure the dual core? I remember the good old days when you bought a WD hard drive and it came with a CD with utilities. Is there a utility that WD has available for download that might resolve my UDMA issue and if needed, configure the dual processor?

Thanks,

ck
