Hi, I am looking at this device — >> WD_BLACK™ D50 Game Dock NVMe™ SSD What I like is that it supports Thunderbolt3 and has 2Tb of SSD Storage. So what I see is that I connect it to my 27" 2020 iMac through the Thunderbolt 3 port , format it with APFS and store Adobe Photoshop and InDesign files making editing and creating content super fast. I asked WD Support if that was a supported usage and they did not know. Has anyone ever done this ?
You mean is it OK to format the device as APFS format? Sure you can.
