WD backupservice.exe-Application Error

Every time I shut down, the attached error message appears. I don’t do anything and the computer shuts down seemingly normal. But…has it really backed up? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall? Other solution?
Sorry, it looks unreadable. It actually says “the application was unable to start correctly (???0000142). Click OK to close the application”.

Hello JIMJ,

You can search for services.msc from Windows Search bar and ensure that including WD Drive Manager, below WD Services are running and set to Automatic. If any services not currently running, change the properties to automatic startup. Then reboot computer and check for the same issue.

  • Computer Browser
  • Portable Device Enumerator Service
  • DNS Client
  • Function Discovery Resource Publication
  • Plug and Play
  • SSDP Discovery
  • Storage Server
  • Server
  • UPnP Device Host
  • Virtual Disk
  • Workstation
  • WD Backup
  • WD Backup Drive Helper
  • WD Backup Snapshot
  • WD Drive Manager

Thank you for your reply. I have done as suggested and the error message does not seem to appear. But there was a file that I could not find. WD Backup did not appear. Could this mean that WD was not installed correctly?
