A few times a week, I get a systray message from WD Anywhere Backup with the text “In order to back up files being used by other applications, the WD Background Service needs to be restarted. Would you like to restart it now?”
I respond Yes.
I understand that without this service running WD Anywhere Backup will not be able to backup my MS Outlook .pst files.
When I look at the running services I do see that the MemeoBackgroundService is started.
What can I do to ensure that the required service is always running?
The issue is unresolved. WD Tech Support was very good about keeping in touch and continuing to find workarounds. However ultimately we did not resolve it.
For this specific issue, the only way that I can be absolutely sure that my Outlook PST files are safely backed up is to use a different backup tool on a regular basis.
Possibly some future release of WD Anywhere will be more compatible. Case closed.
