WD Acronis True Image with Win2k?

I’m upgrading a Dell Latitude C640 from it’s original IBM Cascade 20-GB EIDE Internal HDD to a Western Digital WD1200BEVE 120-GB EIDE internal.  Now here’s the rub (perhaps it’s a double rub);

From what I’ve read in a few posts here, some have had no luck using TrueImage with an external HDD, but some have, correct?

Potential rub # 1: My intent is to initially connect the new 120-GB HDD via USB in a StarTech (UNIDOCK2U) external Dock.

Potential rub # 2:  The installed OS is Win2k Pro SP4 (build 2195).

Acronis lists compatibility with WinXP, Vista, and Win7; has anybody successfully used it with Win2kPro?

TIA!

Well, I have my answers; Win2k Pro works fine with the USB dock, but Acronis TrueImage definitely dislikes Win2k Pro!

Fortunately, I still had a CD with WD Diagnostics 11.0 on hand and that appears to be doing the job just fine!

I just took a look on the Acronis forums and Win 2000 is not supported in True Image 2009 which I think the WD edition is based on. I don’t know if this will work for you or not http://www.paragon-software.com/home/db-express/download.html A lot of people speak highly of it.

Well, for this particular job, I don’t need it now, but I can see some other instances where that may prove useful!

Thanks!
