WD 2 TB capacity gauge not working

Hi guys

I have a WD My Book Essential 2 TB which has a capacity gauge which shows roughly how much storage is used but it doesn’t seem to work.

I have now use about 1 TB so it should indicate that the drive is half full but it doesn’t. Do I have to do something to make that work?

I just bought a 1TB SE and have exactly the same thing!  Capacity gauges do not work on both the int and ext drive and the backup does not start when I click.  Have already updated Windows for the 3.5 and reinstalled WD software!!!

Did you remove the Smartware?  I removed the Smartware and reformatted my drive, and the front panel light has been dimmed out since.
