I know this is an older model but it has never failed me until now. The drive blinks and blinks and when it finally comes up and shows on the pc, the folders are there but they are empty. Any ideas?
What OS are you using? Does the drive show in Disk Management?

I have trtied it on XP and Vista. The drive shows up in disk management. Thanks
It sounds like somethig is corrupt. See if Recuva http://www.piriform.com/recuva can recover your data.
