wd 1 tb esata drive not seen on laptop running XP. the esata drive in connected to an adapter to be able to use usb cable to connect directly to toshiba laptop. external power to the drive is connected and light is on

Was this drive connected to a different device? Is possible that you might need to reformat the drive to use it on a windows PC.
Is the drive showing under disk management?
It was connect to my Comcast DVR. When I plugged it in it asked to be formatted and I said yes. I no longer need the external drive and was hoping to have a 1 TB drive for backup. It does not show up under disk management. Thanks for your help.
