I have the following WD Black drive (2 tb) which is almost 5 years old. Drive #1 - ATA WDC WD2002FAEX-0
I can’t find anywhere the proper procedure or software for the firmware update–please advise.
It is not allowed to update the firmware version of WD Internal hard drive and it is advisable to use Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows tools to diagnose the hard drive in case of any issue or to check the health of the hard drive. Here is the link for Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool:

The term “firmware” gets misused quite often.
Websters dictionary definition of firmware is.
Western Digital does not provide updates/upgrades to its “firmware” for its internal hard drives.
