Warranty Transfer

Hi,

I saw this was covered and answered in 2015 but please can WD confirm, in 2022, that HD Warranty is linked to the HD and not the purchaser?

Therefore, if I sold my WD BLACK HD, which is showing as still under warranty on the WD website, to a private individuals, then if they had a problem with the HD, WD would honour it during the remaining warranty period with the new owner?

If this is all correct, how does the new owner register the HD? Do I need to unregistered it?

I’m in the UK, as is the registration.

Looks like Keerti_01’s answer might give you the most absolute answer. On the off chance you’re just too busy, below is a link to the warranty page. There appears to be no reference to a requirement that you be the original purchaser, simply that you may need to furnish a copy of the original purchase receipt to determine the start of the warranty period (though this clause may not be applicable to you based on local laws.)
