Warranty process is poor!

I have bought a number of products from WD because of their warranty they offer.
But when it came to the crunch they didn’t back their product.
My product at the time of the event of a failure was under warranty, but in order to obtain a report and retrieve the data took some time which then went over the expiry date of the warranty.

So now they are not replacing a drive which has failed based on the report and that has cost me $1000 in retrieving the data.

So the question is do you buy a product that is not backed by the warranty they provide or spend the money and go to the cloud like google… ???

You be the judge!
