Warranty policy

Hi there,
I bought 1x 2tb WD Red for my NAS and after 3 months I got an error were it says “Bad Sector Block”.
No worries, I have sent the Disk to my local shop, were I bought the Disk and after one month, they have sent me a “recertified” one.

Is this common practice for warranty policy? I bought my Disk as new and after 3 months of use, it brokes and as a replacement I receive a recertified disk with 6 months warranty?

I bought the Disk in Portugal (Europe), can someone please explain if this is the common practice of WD or is the store who is trying to win something out of this?
