Wake on LAN

Is there a way to power up WDTV from PC via ethernet or WiFi?

I’d like to be able to wake it up from sleep mode when transfering files to external HDD.

No.

You can turn it on from your smartphone with the WDTV remote app.

Not if it’s off in such a way the drive isn’t accessible – that means its OFF off.  :)   Not on the network anymore.

The OP said “I’d like to be able to wake it up from sleep mode when transfering files to external HDD.”

So hence my suggestion.

Thanks.

Wake on LAN doesnt work but I can fire it up easily with remote app.

As for file transfer, seems that for wireless you need to turn it ON,

but when connected via ethernet cable you will be able to approach networh shares even in sleep mode.

I bought AC/LAN adapter to connect it with router and it works great.

Sorry for this Darko St but I can transfer files to and from my wirelessly connected drive attached to my WDTV SMP when the media player is in sleep mode.
