I got one drive faulty on RAID 5 which i replaced but after replacement i cannot see any option to rebuilt the RAID 5 or even cant see any manual rebuilt option. The LED light is red on new Drive and the RAID profile just showing volume degraded and even not showing volume information.
Do not attempt any manual RAID rebuild outside the NAS unless you have a backup. Your data is still at risk.
Check drive compatibility: Make sure the new HDD matches the original in capacity, model family, and specs.
Power cycle the NAS: Sometimes the NAS needs a full reboot to recognize the new drive properly.
Check logs: Go to Dashboard > Storage > Logs to see why it’s not rebuilding.
Try marking the drive as “Ready” or “Online”: Some NAS dashboards allow you to select the degraded drive → Initialize or Set as RAID member.
If nothing works: Contact WD support before attempting any force-rebuild or third-party tools—they can guide you through safe recovery. RAID 5 rebuilds can fail if done incorrectly, risking full data loss.
After replacing a failed drive in a RAID 5 on a WD My Cloud EX4100, the NAS may not rebuild the array automatically. The new drive shows a red LED, and the volume appears degraded with no detailed information. This usually happens because the NAS doesn’t recognize the new drive or the RAID metadata is mismatched. Check that the replacement drive is compatible, power cycle the NAS, and reseat the drive if needed. Make sure the firmware is up to date and avoid initializing or formatting the volume. If the array still won’t rebuild, professional RAID recovery may be needed to prevent data loss.
