I own a 320Gb Passport that is not showing the VCD when plugged to my PC anymore, but the PC (winXP SP3) makes that sound that is detecting something and it shows the ‘Mass storage device’ icon in the notification area but no drive letter…
I tried the ‘WD SmartWare Virtual CD Manager for Windows-v1.0.7.4.exe’ application and it does detect the device as:
‘My Passport Essential SN:’ (like that, no SN)
I hit ‘Configure drive’ and I get an error:
‘Your WD SmartWare drive is locked; please remove your password to remove security before
attempting to configure your WD SmartWare VCD. After…’
So I’m assuming that what is being detected is the hard drive partition but not the VCD… my problem here is that, to access my files I need the ‘unlock’ application to open the drive (right?)… but I have been looking around for this app and is not available anywhere… can somebody provide a link to download it? or is my drive ruined?
