1st time user,  hello all.  I just purchased yet another WD My Essential 2 TB for photo backups to be used with Lightroom.

I don’t want to use the WD Smartware and want to remove it from all my drives.  Question, other than the obvious, I.E. tunring off Anti Virus and Anti Spyware off, how do I know if any other program is or may be wanting access to the drives before I update the firmware. Thanks in advance.
