i just wanted to ask if theres any problems with the Elements Play and playing mkv´s with Variable Frame rate (VFR)

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.  The best answer I could give you, is to experiment and see if it works.  That’s going to be the real test anyway.
