Using WD My Cloud for TimeMachine backups

I’ve had my MyCloud for a few weeks now, and while I have TimeMachine (Mac OSX) set to automatically back up my hard drive. While everything keeps uploading to the drive, whenever it appears to be done, it always says “Waiting to Complete First Backup.”

A second issue: now that I’ve taken my drive off of “Public,” I get this message:

Backup Disk Not Available

Try backing up again when “WDMyCloud” is available.

How do I fix this?
