Using WD Black Storage for a Retro Gaming Library

I’ve been thinking about how much storage is useful for a large retro gaming collection, especially when using a modern PC for older games and emulation.

A WD Black drive seems like an interesting option because a gaming PC can have both newer games and a large collection of older titles. I’d probably use an SSD for the operating system and frequently played games, while keeping a larger HDD for archived games, backups, and other files.

For people here using WD Black drives for gaming, have you noticed any meaningful difference in loading older games or managing a large game library compared with a regular HDD?

I’m also interested in how everyone organizes their retro gaming libraries. Do you keep everything on one drive, or separate your active games from your archived collection?

For reference, I also maintain a small resource about the BIOS side of PlayStation emulation:

I’m mainly interested in hearing how other people handle storage for their gaming setups.

I agree that a SSD is best for a PC these days. Retro gaming is a popular pastime and the PS1 is definitely very retro. Emulators are widely avaialble.
