Using the other connectors to delete the VCD?

The “My Passport” devices are easy to remove from their casing. There is even a video on YouTube of someone doing it with only one hand:

More importantly, they are easy to put back in their casing, exactly the way they were before. Of course I only removed the casing, I did not open the hard disk itself.

When you remove the casing, you see 2 unused sets of connectors on the disk. Some people reported success in removing the VCD partition from other WD devices by connecting the disk as SATA to their computer. Has anyone tried that on a “My Passport”? If so, could you please write how you did it or give us a link if you wrote it elsewhere?

Well, the one terabyte disk is also sold on its own by WD:
