Using PR2100 with only usb drive

Hi,
I want to buy a PR2100. I plan to install a HD in it in the future, but for now, I only want it to work with an external USB3 drive. Is this possible? Or is the external HD options just for copying it to the connected disk?

Not possible afaik. Your user settings are saved on the first volume (with internal disks).
