Using G-Drive for iTunes Library

I moved my itunes library to my g-drive to free up space on my macbook pro. However, when I try to choose the library from iTunes I get the message, “The folder ‘G-DRIVE’ is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder.”

What are my options? Can I create a ‘public’ folder on the g-drive? Can I unlock the g-drive (I have a 2TB FireWire)?

Thanks for any help.

Your drive shouldn’t be locked in the first place unless there is some sort of corruption to the drive or it is permissions locked from an older OS.

You can select the drive on your desktop and press the command + i key to bring up Get Info. Check the permissions section at the bottom, might need to unlock it with the padlock and enable read+write.

I tried what you wrote but it still remains “no access”. Where is the master switch?
