Using FAT32 partition to play WD 750GB to Sony DVD player

Can you create a partition on an external hd, one for fat32 (for the dvd player), and the rest for larger format files not meant to be read by the dvd player? I just recently had a problem using my HD to play videos or MP3 files, none of these files work on my player or my TV.

Any help will by much appreciated.

Yes you can, check the link below for the steps to partition the hard drive. You need to enter the partition size manually  on the “simple volume size” (Windows) or size (Mac’s) options.
