Use WD20PURX for Computer Storage?

I have a WD20PURX drive that I successfully used as additional storage on my PVR, using an eSATA connection. The drive is mounted in an external cage that provides an eSATA port and a USB 3.0 port. I no longer need additional storage for my PVR but need some external storage on my Windows 10 computer. When I attempt to connect to my computer use the USB 3.0 port on the external hard drive and a USB 2.0 connection at the computer end, however, my computer does not recognize the drive. It doesn’t show up as an active drive. It doesn’t exist. There are no jumpers on the WD20PURX. My USB ports on the computer are USB 2.0 but my printer satisfactorily connects to the computer with a USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 cable, just like the external hard drive. The drive is turned on when I try it. Any help?
