  1. Does it show on the desktop as one drive?
  2. Can i use it as a regular drive or is there extra software that i have to use in order to copy files to it?
  3. Can i use both of the hard disk drives, one for storing and the other to work for TimeMachine?

  2. Once you map the drive on your computer, there is no need install any software to use it. 

  3. Yes, if you use JBOD you can access each volume separately.
