We recently purchased a Mini Media Player and everything was working fine hooked up to a 500GB USB / Firewire drive. Then one day it just stopped mounting. In testing the unit we found that a 2GB Flash drive worked fine. The thing is that to swap out films on the Flash drive was tedious and goes against the point of not being able to use an external hard drive packed with files.
The 500 GB drive was quite old so we went out and purchased a 320GB My Passport Essential as this was recommended by Western Digital. We couldn’t get it too mount either. Did a firmware upgrade on the Mini Media Player, repartioned the drive as per WD’s specs and still nothing. Both drives still mount fine on a Mac. Tried different cables. Still nothing. It still is mounting the Flash drive so I know the unit is still working.
Any ideas? Kind of frustrating especially since we went out and purchased the recommended drive. Even more frustrating is the fact that it was working fine for a while then just suddenly decided to stop mounting external drives.
