Not sure if you saw, but that link isn’t really helpful.
The Data Recovery services WD recommends want to disassemble the HD in a clean room and charge me $3,000 to extract data.
I’m looking for someone to make a simple repair - fix a USB connector that broke off.
I wish WD made their drives better!
But I see no reason to trash the drive or spend my mortgage payment for unnecessary clean-room level work. Surely a simple thing like a USB Connector can be repaired!
I’m really disappointed that WD only promotes expensive data restoration services and does not have any referral network for electronic repairs.
We apologize for any inconvenience, please be informed that Western Digital has a replacement policy only under warranty and does not provide repair services.
