So I just got me a 3tb Seagate and wondering what might be better.

Hook directly to WDTV Live Plus, hook directly to PC and use Network Shares, or hook directly to my EA3500

The drive supports USB 3.0/2.0 but my MOBO only supports USB 2.0

Reason I am interested in the router hookup is because I shut my PC off every night and would hate to forget to ‘remove hardware safely’ and ruin my drive. At least with the router it’s always on unless a power outage were to happen …

If you allow me to say, from the point of view of the media player, the best option is connected directly to the media player. I mean either way should work for you.
