USB 3.0 Cable on WD Hub

Hi!

Is it possible to transfer data with a external 3,5’’ oder 2,5’’ HD to and from the hub with a USB 3.0 CABLE??

It’s because the hub only have USB 2.0, does this make problems or is there no problem, because USB 3.0 is backward compatible to USB 2.0?? Does somebody have experience with that?

Thanks a lot and have a nice day!

You should not have any issue, I have a USB 3.0 drive and I have transferred movies from this drive to the WD TV Live Hub, using the USB 3.0 cable, no problem whatsoever.

Remember that this drives are USB 2.0 backward compatible, same with the cable.

Note that you will get USB 2.0 speeds, not USB 3.0 speeds.

How about direct connect from computer?

The Live Hub isn’t a USB “device”.  You can connect USB devices _ to _ it with its USB port.

But trying to hook a PC to a Live Hub with a USB cable, would be like trying to “network” 2 PCs together using USB – it generally won’t work (without adding actual USB Ethernet capability to the PCs)

To network a Live Hub to a PC, it needs an actual networking protocol (Ethernet).
