URGENT! M3U Playlist containing filenames with accents are not recognized by the player

I did a M3U playlist containing songs with accents like this:

\Music\Sinéad O’ Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U.mp3

\Music\Soda Stereo - De Música Lijera.flac

etc…

Where \Music\ is the folder with the songs in my NTFS hard disk. In this case the songs with accents in the filename like “Sinéad” and “Música” are not recognized by the player. I know this because I edited one of those filenames removing the accent and it worked.

So WDTV Live recognize only those without accents in the filename like:

\Music\Soda Stereo - De Musica Lijera.flac

etc…

But if I save this M3U playlist as a Unicode M3U8, WDTV Live recognize those filenames with accents.

I think this is a bug and I DON’T WANT TO REMOVE THE ACCENTS TO ALL THE SONGS!!!.

It would unnecessary to convert every single playlist to unicode to use it with the player.

I hope Bill_S and the WDTV Stuff notice this post before the new firmware is out.

Thank you for your attention.

It’s already been mentioned and WD is notified. You also don’t need to save to m3u8 to convert an m3u to UTF. In the meantime you can batch convert with Notepad ++.

Thank you so much for letting me know this.
