Urgent help required: wd elements 1tb & wdtv

Hi All,

Apologies if i have posted this in the wrong forum.

Im n need of urgent assistance.

I have an WD Elements 1TB Hard Drive that i use via a USB port on my WDTV.

The external HD had around 700gb of data files on it.  The other day i updated the hard drive with additional files via a direct link (USB) on my laptop.  I then plugged it back into the USB port on the WDTV and started experiencing problems.

All the files would not work and after further investigation i found out that the HD had some way been partitioned??? and was now only saying the storage limit was 127gb and the majority of my files were now 0k files.

My laptop has windows 7.  The reason i mention this is after researching i discovered that this problem could occur for systems running XP, however my laptop is win 7.

Please note i have had no such problems as this in the past.

I have since reconnected the HD to the laptop and run the WD quick and extended test which is passed however as mentioned about is only showing a storage limit of 127gb with the majority of my files now 0k.  Ive also run a virus checker on it.

My queries:

  1. why did this occur?

  2. can this be repaired?

  3. have i lost all my data?? which would be approximately 600gb worth.

Please help as i have no idea what to do now after extensive research and my family is upset at the thought of us losing all this data.

Thank you in advance.

Cheers
