As far as the ZOOM goes, you’re one of few people that want it…  Most people want to see the WHOLE picture, not have a FULL screen sacrificing the image in the process.  But, your opinion is no less valid than the other…Â
There is an OPTION.  If you don’t want MENUS, then you can launch the DVD in PREVIEW mode, and then enlarge the PREVIEW.  Zoom then works the same as all other formats; all you’re losing is the DVD menu structure.
Tony, mine doesn’t display the zoom option when I launch from Preview. Runs the same as from List.
I do believe controlled Zoom is a useful option, the amount sacrificed from the sides of the frame is small, unlike changing the aspect setting on the TV, which does remove quite an amount.
Seagate have a dedicated Zoom button on the remote, giving the ability to add as much as is required. Works well. and
is easily available for all kinds of play or display
