Upgrading PR4100 from 10HDD to 20HDD

Ok,I’ve been running 10HDD in my PR4100 for a while now and I’ve almost used all the space available. I’m running Raid 5 and my data available now is 9.5 TB out of the 30 TB available after Raid 5 in place. I’m wanting to upgrade the 4 bays to 20HDD. I’m using the NAS for Plex Media Server.

I’ve been talking with tech support and they’re assuring me everything will be fine if I follow the instructions in the data migration process. I’m just asking is there anything else I need to know when it comes to this task that I’m about to take on. I really don’t want to lose any data and I’m hesitant to start the process.

If I’m confusing with my description, please excuse me. I understand what I have to do, and I might have some of the language incorrect in describing it.

Thank you for any input.

I’m asking a legitimate question. I have very minimal experience when it comes to using and understanding a NAS drive.

I just want to know the safest way to move data from 4 /10tb hdd’s to 4/20 tb hdd’s

Would be easier too just get another NAS Drive?

step one
BACKUP now

I find a reload of the date is faster than all the raid rebuilds

I decided to backup my current data on a new NAS. The data migration would take too long and it’s too risky. Losing my data would be very bad. Thank you for all the comment and advice.
