My WDmycloud is thrashing the drive so much that it’s really slow. So just in case it’s a hardware issue I bought a spare. But in the meantime to be safe I’d like to update the new unit to the firmware right BEFORE the latest one. How does one find a prior firmware release?
(pardon the newb question)
hi
http://download.wdc.com/nas/sq-030401-230-20140415.deb.zip
download and unzip
save the .deb file for later use
then log into the web ui
replace the x with ip adress of the device on your network
http://xxx.xxx.x.xxx/ui
go to setting, then firmware then click on upgrade manually, locate the .deb firmware file
wait a while
done!

Kewl, that was it! Thank you.
Do you not have to change the version file so that it thinks it is upgrading?
I had a new Mycloud and only wanted to get it up to a certain version. I now have turned off updating.

you are talking about a method to downgrade involving winscp see this thread http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-My-Cloud/Easy-method-to-downgrade-to-previous-version-of-the-firmware/td-p/773073
some people had success with this technique but not me
the method mentioned here is for upgarding to a newer frimware but not the newest
