Is there any other updates for the WD HD Gen 1, cause it doesn’t play all sound types? Last update was 11-09.
The Gen1 plays all sound types that the chip in it can support. An update wouldn’t be able to add any new capabilities to it. It will only play supported files, and nothing new can be supported. That’s why they built the Gen2 – to add DTS support… the Gen2 uses a different chip that supports DTS.
And no, the Gen1 was deemed End Of Life (EOL) by Western Digital back in April, 2010. There will be no future firmware updates for it. 1.03.01 is the last update. Anything it doesn’t do under 1.03.01, it will never do.
