has anyone found a way to modify or upgrade the os to play newer mkv files?
It would be nice to convert our wd live hub unit insides with a current rock64 or raspberry pi to use to play 4k files.
I love the simple interface that wd live hub player has. I hate the android ones that come on all of the new “Kodi boxes”
Kodi is FAR from Android. Kodi is an application, not an OS. ;). I’ve thrown away all of my WD players and now use nothing but Kodi. Not Badmouthing WD for their contribution to the hardware market 8+ years ago, but IMHO, Kodi is where it’s at.

Have been a long time Kodi user since it’s XBMC days on the OG XBOX
WD TV were great to use in the High Definition transition years … but they have been surpassed and become obsolete.
