Unrecognizable hard drive

Hi there. my WD (my passport) device used to work on my laptop, it stopped working suddenly. now that I connect it to the laptop, the laptop doesn’t recognize it and shows an yellow exclamation mark. considering that my laptop doesn’t have USB 3 port, I checked my WD device in another laptop, it doesn’t work in its USB2 either but it works in USB3 port of the laptop.
what should I do now?

If I understand correctly, your hard drive works on USB 3.0 mode in another computer but does not work on USB 2.0 mode on either computer.

If so, try replacing your hard drive’s Micro USB 3.0 cable with a standard Micro USB 2.0 cable to force legacy backwards compatibility with your system.
